In this long-awaited sequel, NBA superstar LeBron James partners up with Bugs Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tunes. Malcolm D. Lee's Space Jam: A New Legacy (also known as Space Jam 2) is an upcoming American live-action/animated sports comedy film.
Unlike the teaser, the second Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer serves as a reminder that the film is about the Looney Toons and not just an IP circus. In the latest teaser for the film, King James is transformed into a cartoon. This elevates the stakes for the original Looney Tunes, whose survival is also dependent on the big game. The official title of Space Jam 2 is Space Jam: A New Legacy. LeBron James, the NBA's most famous player, co-stars in the film with an animated character!
After the first film's debut, talks for a sequel began, with Joe Pytka returning to direct and Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone coming on as animation supervisors. Still, they fell through due to Michael Jordan's refusal to return. Several potential spin-offs centering on other athletes, including Jeff Gordon, Tiger Woods, and Tony Hawk, were also planned but never materialized. Finally, after years of speculation, a LeBron James-led sequel was formally revealed in 2014, with filming set to begin in June 2019 in Los Angeles under the direction of Terence Nance. However, after a few weeks into filming, Nance left the project and Lee was hired to replace him in July 2019.
LeBron and his son Dom (Cedric Joe) will be trapped in Seververse, a virtual universe ruled by a rogue A.I. dubbed AI-G Rhythm, in this new adventure (Don Cheadle). LeBron will lead Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the Tune Squad in a basketball match against Rhythm's digitized champions, the Goon Squad, to save his son and return home safely. The opposing team is modeled after real-life basketball stars, just like the Monstars in the original film, but instead of stealing their talent, Rhythm and company will create these supercharged virtual avatars based on real NBA and WNBA players, using their nicknames and most notable skills to build the best team. The following is a list of every basketball player confirmed to feature in Space Jam: Apart from LeBron James, there is a new legacy.
Uninterrupted, LeBron James' organization provided the first glimpse at the Tune Squad's new clothes, and they are anything from subtle. The original white jerseys have been replaced with a bright blue pair. On one side of the new tees is a massive Looney Tunes logo that spans both the top and the shorts.
These are a far cry from the outfits worn by Michael Jordan.
